This proves that we (Humans) are not going to stop at any level. It was time when in old time doctors or Hakims use to check the heart beat by holding the wrist and looking watch for around 30 seconds long. Then we got mercury tool which were more accurate in terms of measuring the blood pressure or the heart beats. But that was not enough. Medical Mirror is invented in MIT by Ming-Zher, Daniel, and Rosalind. It also called as Cardio-Cam, The only think you need to do is stand in front of mirror and you will get you heart rate. This idea is basically taken forward for making this basic health tool more accessible for common man.
Now we will see how mirror will get you heart rate for you. It is found that when blood is flowing over your face, your face light reflection changes. The reason is when amount of blood flows from face, the light that get reflected from the face reduces because the good amount of light get absorbed so based on the amount of light that is reflected from your face is the key to identify the heart beat rate. It may feel crazy after hearing this but it fact. So behind the mirror there is normal Web-Cam which is capturing these light reflections and after necessary processing, it projects the pulse rate on the mirror itself. Being the tools used for this is not so expensive so plus point for this Cardio-Cam is, it will reachable to a normal people also. Beauty of this Mirror is, it works fine even when the target is not steady or there are multiple targets all together. In normal cases, Mirror accuracy fluctuates merely by 5% from the authenticated medical machines for measuring the same.
Inventors still expect to integrate many others health indicators in the same, which will of course increase the utility of this technology. Besides the health areas, inventors are looking forward to use this technology in many areas also like gaming and other real time applications.
